To paint is, to me, a path upwards. Reach the surface and see the whole through the water line.
The balance between “firm land” and “out of depth”, between the shadows and all the colors in the world.
To even forces is to see the beauty through the eye of the hurricane.
BIOGRAPHY
Tiago Hesp (1981), is a Portuguese artist with a long multidisciplinary artistic career that takes expressions from mural art, to music, illustration, scenography and painting.
Graduated in Scenography from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema de Lisboa (formerly the Lisbon Conservatory), Tiago Hesp has been exploring multiple techniques and approaches to his art, having gained considerable visibility for his work in graffiti, which he has been developing since 1998.
Tiago Hesp paints to try to resolve himself as a human being in the world, in a permanent attempt to find the balance of having a place that is only his own.
Always starting from the dark – reflected in the permanent black line, in the aggressiveness of its application – his works are an attempt to resolve and balance the various forces that affect him, in a battle in which the self and the ego meet and compete, seeking soften in any middle ground between the black and the target.
